Can I just…
I think people try too hard. Socially, I mean. They try too hard to please the people they like, instead of really being themselves. I’m guilty of it too, I can’t lie. However, if you feel you have to change the way you really are, your deep-seated opinions and beliefs, your interests, the way you look, everything that makes you you, there is something wrong. Those people should not be your friends. So what if you think they’re really cool or you admire them. If they’re an asshole, they’re an asshole, and no one wants to be friends with assholes. People always say, “Just be yourself.” I never used to be. One day, I realized, that if people don’t like me the way I really am, I don’t like them. Wearing different clothes or listening to different music didn’t make them like me more, and it made me like me less. Who wants friends who only like them because they dress in hip fashion, listen to trendy music, or like whatever is popular on Reddit that day? I wish people didn’t try so very hard to impress others and I wish they were just themselves more often. I suppose that’s all I have to say about that.
